Our story · Moncton snow removal since 2008It started with a tractor, a truck and a promise.

In 2008, in the middle of a recession, a husband and wife took a leap of faith with one tractor and one plow truck. This is the story of how that leap grew into the family crew that more than 1,300 homeowners count on when the snow starts falling.

    2008Chapter 1 · The beginning

    A tractor, a truck and a promise.

In the winter of 2008, with the economy sliding into a downturn, Ross was looking for a way to give his family a little more security.

By day he worked for a U.S. company, but he had also spent nearly a decade in snow removal working for someone else, and he could see an opportunity to build something better: a modern, dependable company where service and reliability came first.

So he and his wife, DeeDee, took a leap of faith. With one tractor and one plow truck, they founded Choreguys Snow Removal and began clearing homes and commercial properties in a small neighbourhood in Moncton's North End. Their plan was simple, and it still guides us today: show up, work hard, and take care of every customer like family.

    2010Chapter 2 · Growth through reputation

    Then the neighbours started talking.

Word of mouth travelled from one front step to the next, and it travelled fast.

Customers noticed the difference in quality and professionalism, and they told their friends and neighbours. By 2010, Choreguys had grown beyond its first neighbourhood and was running three tractors.

Every winter brought new challenges, new routes and new equipment. What never changed was the family-driven commitment to doing the job right.

    2012Chapter 3 · AIR MILES and innovation

    A reward for every storm.

For the first time, getting your driveway cleared came with something back.

In 2012, Choreguys became one of the first snow removal companies in the region to offer AIR MILES® Reward Miles, and it is still one of the only ones that ever has. The response was overwhelming, and customers loved earning rewards simply for having their driveways cleared.

That same year, two more tractors joined the fleet. They were the first in the region to run on specialized winter tires, giving Choreguys a real advantage in traction, efficiency and reliability when the weather was at its worst.

    2015Chapter 4 · Expansion and technology

A fleet that kept on growing.

Since day one, Choreguys had added one or two tractors a year on average, and by 2015 the growth was impossible to miss.

The fleet had passed ten tractors, every one of them on specialized snow tires. Customer interest in AIR MILES® had shifted, so Choreguys ended the partnership and found a new way to say thank you: the Endless Summer Giveaway, where one lucky customer won an all-expenses-paid cruise.

Behind the scenes, Choreguys became one of the first companies in the region to bring telematics into its fleet, adding a new level of tracking, efficiency and accountability to every route. It was an early look at the technology that would come to define the company.

  5. 2017Chapter 5 · Commercial excellence

    Into the big leagues.

On a parking lot or a plaza, one missed patch of ice can become someone's worst day, and Choreguys treated every commercial site with that in mind.

Ross's background in insurance meant he understood exactly what keeps commercial property owners up at night: risk. Paired with the company's relentless commitment to service, that understanding made Choreguys known for quality and attention to detail. Every site was managed with precision, and telematics and detailed record-keeping gave clients clear proof of the work, storm after storm.

At its peak, the commercial division ran five loaders, four plow trucks, two salt trucks and three walkway crews. Choreguys was the second company in Moncton to invest in Metal Pless wing plows with live edge systems. Today, about 75% of companies in the area run Metal Pless blades, and Choreguys was there early.

In just three years, more than $1.5 million was reinvested into the business, setting a new standard for quality and professionalism.

    2021Chapter 6 · Returning to our roots

Choosing the driveway over the parking lot.

The company had never been bigger, but the thing that made it special was starting to slip away.

By 2021, Choreguys was running about 13 tractors and serving most of Moncton's North End. The commercial division kept growing quickly, but the company's heart had always been with homeowners, and the personal service and community connection that built Choreguys were beginning to fade.

For personal and health reasons, and out of a desire to return to the company's original mission, Ross and DeeDee made a defining decision and sold the commercial division to Fram Enterprises. Fram has since built on that foundation and runs one of the area's leading commercial snow removal operations today.

With the focus back on residential, Ross doubled down on quality. He invested in some of the most advanced snow blowers on the market, built with specialized gates that pull snow away from garages, steps and walkways for a cleaner, more precise finish. It was the same mission Choreguys started with on day one, carried out with better tools.

    2022Chapter 7 · Innovation meets expansion

Across the river, with a better blower.

The first snow blower was built in 1925, and for almost a century the basic design barely changed.

In 2022, Choreguys crossed the river and brought its residential service to Riverview, opening an exciting new chapter of growth.

That same year, the hybrid snow blower arrived, and Choreguys recognized its potential right away. A hybrid blower pulls snow away from garage doors and steps instead of leaving a pile behind, and that closer clear means less snow and ice build-up and a driveway that melts off faster.

Choreguys began converting its fleet to hybrid one machine at a time, and that work continues today. The result is the largest fleet of hybrid blowers in Moncton.

    2024Chapter 8 · A new era of technology

    Every cab gets a co-pilot.

Picture the cab at 3 a.m., snow blowing sideways, and a glowing map on the dash showing the operator exactly where to go next.

In 2024, Choreguys introduced a GPS-powered software system that changed how every route runs. Each tractor was fitted with a tablet running custom software that shows every property on an interactive map, complete with real-time routing, property details and driveway notes. If a driveway is ever missed, the system flags it on the spot for follow-up.

Calls about missed service dropped to less than 3%. Customers also gained automated driveway service alerts, live tractor tracking, and a support team that sees the same live map our operators use, features no other company around here offered at the time.

Homeowners embraced the transparency and convenience. Choreguys welcomed nearly 400 new homes that year and finished 2024 with more than 15 tractors on the road.

    2025Chapter 9 · The next generation

    Still family. Still showing up.

The company that started with one tractor and one plow truck is now powered by a whole family, and a new generation has stepped up.

Two new tractor platforms joined the fleet, a first for Choreguys, boosting productivity and performance on every route. Choreguys also brought live edge to the driveway for the first time, investing in live edge blowers, whose blades flex to follow the ground for a closer clear, as soon as they became available for residential work. It is the same kind of edge technology its commercial loaders first ran back in 2017.

That same year, Choreguys stepped back from Riverview and brought its full fleet home to Moncton's North End, the part of the city where it all began.

Look around the operation today and you will find family nearly everywhere: in the tractor cabs, in the shop, running operations and keeping the books. This new generation of snow fighters carries the same passion and pride that started it all in 2008, and this winter they are introducing a new customer portal, where homeowners can see their service history, notes, photos and live tractor tracking in one place.

None of this happens without you. To every homeowner who has trusted us year after year, thank you. We look forward to serving our community for many winters to come.

The next chapter

In 2008, it was one tractor and one plow truck. This winter, it could be your driveway.

It is the same promise Ross and DeeDee made on day one: show up, work hard, and take care of every customer like family.
